Wedding Trends – Naked Wedding Cakes

Fill your venue with the aroma of fresh strawberries by having a naked wedding cake! At recent wedding fairs in Edinburgh several brides- to-be have discussed having a naked, also known as a rustic, wedding cake.  These cakes are basically the same as a traditional three tier – usually round – wedding cake but with no sugarpaste icing.

Naked Wedding cakes with fresh seasonal fruits are the most popular but fresh flowers and raffia also look beautiful.  Bear in mind though that when using fresh flowers on wedding cakes of any type you need to ensure that the flowers are non-toxic and have not been sprayed with pesticides.  Stems should be wrapped in food safe film or placed in posy picks.

The downside of having an un-iced cake is that it can dry out if not done properly.  Our naked wedding cakes are baked in our kitchen in Edinburgh the day before the wedding and kept wrapped until being assembled at your venue.  This ensures our wedding cakes remain beautifully moist.
